The opening of Elizabeth High School saw 1st and 2nd year students from that area transferred leaving Salisbury High with 473 students. Music and Drama have always been very important and in the early years a school choir was in existence. The Library had a grand total of 2156 books. Salisbury High School Army Cadet Unit was formed and regular parades were held each Thursday afternoon. In the magazine of that year Mr Haines (Headmaster) commented that “120 scholars are in our first Leaving Class, which is a record number of class II school and is unlikely to be surpassed at this school for years to come.” There were many academic achievers but these had to transfer to another school to study at Leaving Honors level. (Mainly Enfield or Teachers College). The canteen’s takings were approx. 80 pounds per week and the profit was a valuable contribution to the school (as it continues to be to this day).

Our involvement in the Power Cup program showcased our ATSI student's commitment to this State wide indigenous program, bringing awards, pride and a shared vision of academic success. The SAASTA Academic award this year across the State was won by our Year 12 students and we congratulate them on their participation in a trip to China as part of the elite SAASTA Academy. Three Year 12 Aboriginal students, won a $30,000 Amy Levai University scholarship. A Year 10 student, won the Leadership Award at the Indigenous Youth Leadership Program.
